Lawyer
“Personal injury and insurance litigation is my sole focus and passion. I strongly believe in helping people during the worst moments of their lives, to get the justice they deserve.”
In his practice, Nicolas is a highly successful personal injury and insurance litigator.
Recently, he successfully represented an auto accident victim in the Divisional Court of Ontario, establishing an important legal precedent that permits accident victims to include previously undeclared income in the calculation of their income replacement benefits upon filing updated tax returns with the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency. Prior to the decision, insurers refused to consider previously undeclared income when calculating income loss benefits payable to an insured person.
Born in Quito, Ecuador, and raised in the United States, Nicholas received his BA from the University of South Carolina and a Master’s in Political Science from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. He attended law school at the University of Ottawa, where he graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor of Law degree, in the same class as Barry Edson.
Nicolas is married and speaks fluent Spanish. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Advocates Society and the Toronto Lawyers Association.
