When should I see a lawyer after an accident?

As soon as possible. If the case eventually goes to trial, we need to gather evidence and do any investigative work as quickly as we can. Also some claims require a notice letter a few days after the accident. If you miss this window, then you might not be able to proceed with a case.

Can I afford to hire a lawyer?

At Edson Legal we work on a contingency basis. That means if we take your case after a free initial consultation, you do not pay any money upfront. We only get paid if we win your claim and get a settlement. This amount is a percentage of the settlement, plus HST.

The insurance company says I don’t need a lawyer. Should I listen to them?

No. You always need a lawyer for a personal injury claim. The lawyer will ensure that you are paid the full amount you are owed in a no-fault insurance claim. And if you need to launch a lawsuit, you will definitely need the services of an experienced personal injury lawyer.

Will you keep me up to date with my case?

Definitely. We are committed to giving clients regular updates. You can also phone us whenever you want. All calls and emails will be answered with 24 hours. You are not charged extra for this service.

Will my case go to trial?

Not necessarily. The majority of claims are settled out of court. That said, we need to proceed as if we are going to trial, to be fully prepared in case that happens. It’s also important to note that at Edson Legal we are experienced trial lawyers. Insurance companies know this and conduct themselves accordingly. They are far more likely to play hardball with a law firm that has no significant trial experience.
